Quando il Principe Edvard di Danimarca si reca negli Stati Uniti per studiare all'università del Wisconsin, incontra una studentessa del college, Paige, che gli serve da bere al bar. Le cose tra i due non cominciano nel verso giusto ma poi nasce qualcosa e lei invita "Eddie" a passare le vacanze lì con la sua famiglia. Dopo il ritorno al college, il loro rapporto diventa più profondo. Un fotografo danese, che sta seguendo segretamente il principe Edvard, lo fotografa con la "amica del college" mentre i due sono in biblioteca e le foto vengono pubblicate su un giornale. Come risultato, la vera identità di Eddie viene rivelata a Paige.Il principe torna in Danimarca seguito da Paige. Quando lui le propone di sposarlo, e lei accetta, i genitori di Eddie cominciano ad istruire la ragazza sulla vita di corte. Anche la sorella minore del principe è felice dell'arrivo di Paige perché da sempre aveva desiderato avere una sorella.

Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), nata sul pianeta Kripton, viene spedita sulla Terra assieme a suo cugino Kal-El (poi noto come Superman) dai suoi genitori Alura (Laura Benanti) e Zor-El (Robert Gant). Adottata, accudita e cresciuta per 12 anni dalla famiglia Danvers, mentre lavora come giornalista per la testata giornalistica CatCo, diretta dalla superficiale Cat Grant (Calissa Flockhart ), rivela i propri poteri soprannaturali cercando di salvare da un disastro aereo la sorella acquisita Alex (Chyler Leigh), decidendo allora di trasformarsi in supereroina e proteggere i cittadini di National City. Nonostante le raccomandazioni ricevute, Kara decide poco avvedutamente di rivelare il suo segreto, cosa che la porterà ad affrontare di volta in volta nemici e alieni, sotto le mentite spoglie di esseri umani, sempre più determinati ad eliminarla. Tra questi vi è anche la zia Astra, che vuole conquistare la terra e vendicarsi di Alura, rea di averla fatta imprigionare su Krypton. Kara però, grazie anche al sostegno del suo collega fotografo Will (Jimmy Olsen), della sorella e del capo del Dipartimento di Operazioni Extranormali Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), riuscirà ad ostacolare i suoi tentativi e a frenare i suoi diabolici piani.

Randolph e Mortimer Duke sono due finanzieri di Filadelfia. Louis Winthorpe III (Aykroyd) è il loro delfino, e promesso sposo della loro nipote. Billy Ray Valentine (Murphy) è un poveraccio che si finge cieco per intascare qualche elemosina. Per una scommessa tra i due Duke Valentine entra nella stanza dei bottoni, Louis finisce tra i barboni. Winthorpe rischia il suicidio, ma lo salva Ophelia (Curtis) una caritatevole prostituta. Valentine, intanto, ha un grande successo nel mondo dell'alta finanza.

In occasione di una festa di Natale al castello di Belle e del Principe, Mrs. Bric, ora amorevole madre in carne ed ossa, rievoca al figlio Chicco i fatti risalenti al Natale di qualche tempo prima. In questa parte della storia, Belle tenta di far piacere la festività alla Bestia. In seguito viene conosciuta la presenza del Maestro Forte, il malvagio organo un tempo cerimoniere del castello e il suo assistente Fife, uno squillante ottavino, che tentano subito di soffocare ogni speranza di felicità.
