La vita di Sakuta Azusagawa prende una piega inaspettata quando incontra una giovane attrice, Mai Sakurajima, intenta a girovagare per una libreria con indosso un costume da coniglietta, ma senza che nessuno noti la sua presenza. Yuu ha sempre amato i manga shoujo e, naturalmente, ha sempre sognato di ricevere un giorno una confessione coi fiocchi, di quelle che fanno battere forte il cuore. Quando il sogno però sembra avverarsi e un suo compagno di classe delle medie le si confessa... il cuore di Yuu non sente niente. La ragazza è confusa: non sa come rispondere e prende tempo, iniziando nel frattempo le scuole superiori. Un pomeriggio, Yuu assiste per caso alla confessione di un suo senpai alla bellissima presidentessa del consiglio studentesco, Nanami; la maturità con cui la ragazza rifiuta il pretendente la colpisce, e Yuu decide di chiedere a Nanami di aiutarla. Con il suo supporto, Yuu riesce finalmente a rispondere alla confessione del vecchio compagno di classe e tutto sembra essersi risolto; all'improvviso, però, è Nanami stessa a confessare i propri sentimenti per Yuu. Come risponderà questa volta il cuore della ragazza?
