After being newly appointed as Pasha, Mahmut spends some time at a festival with his friend, Ibrahim, and meets Shara, a dancer who Ibrahim is friends with. The next day, Mahmut is called into the Divan to discuss the Balt-Rhein Empire's demands after an empire minister, Franz, is found dead at Türkiye's border. Quante volte ci interroghiamo sulla vita oltre la morte? Cinque studenti di medicina del Trinity Emmanuel Medical Center, nella speranza di trovare una risposta, si avventurano in un esperimento audace ma pericoloso. L'idea è dell'ambiziosa studentessa Courtney Hall che riunisce i suoi compagni in un laboratorio del seminterrato dell'università: ognuno di loro a turno si stende sul lettino lasciando che gli altri gli fermino il cuore. In quella breve ma angosciante esperienza di premorte, anche i più scettici assistono agli effetti del risveglio delle funzioni cerebrali oltre alle potenzialità della scoperta scientifica. Ma nessuno considera le controindicazioni. Al ritorno dal viaggio nell'aldilà, i ragazzi sono tormentati da tremende allucinazioni, immagini di un passato che lascia tracce nel presente, ricordi rimossi che ritornano a galla.

La storia si svolge nella stazione termale Konohana, localizzata in un luogo che si trova a metà fra il nostro mondo e il mondo ultraterreno, e dove molti spiriti, divinità, anime di defunti, mostri si recano in visita. Le protagoniste sono degli spiriti volpe che si trasformano in ragazze e si prendono cura dei clienti della locanda, oltre a svolgere tutte le attività collegate a questa "missione". La giovane kitsune Yuzu viene assunta come nuova apprendista. Inizialmente la piccola volpe trova non poche difficoltà ad ambientarsi, si dimostra imbranata e incapace di compiere il suo lavoro, e viene ripresa più volte dalla sua compagna di stanza Satsuki; ma grazie alle ramanzine delle colleghe e alle avventure che vive attraverso i clienti, Yuzu matura fino a diventare un perno della locanda Konohana. Fra kimono e petali di ciliegio, anche l'amore troverà il suo spazio.
