Stanchi di essere imprigionati in un rettilario dove gli umani li osservano come se fossero mostri, alcuni tra gli animali più letali del continente australiano organizzano un'audace fuga dallo zoo verso l'Outback, un luogo dove potranno finalmente sentirsi a casa senza essere giudicati per le loro squame o fauci. A guidare il gruppo è Maddie, un serpente velenoso dal cuore d'oro, che fa squadra con il diavolo spinoso sicuro di sé Thorny Devil Zoe, il ragno peloso Frank e il sensibile scorpione Nigel. Inaspettatamente anche Pretty Boy, un adorabile quanto insopportabile koala, decide di unirsi al gruppo in fuga e la gang non può fare a meno di accoglierlo. Inizia così il loro incredibile ed esilarante viaggio attraverso l'Australia, inseguiti dal guardiano dello zoo Chaz e dal suo temerario mini-me.
