Trama: Il protagonista Lyon Gaultier è un militare della legione straniera. Venuto a conoscenza delle condizioni molto gravi di suo fratello, in fin di vita dopo essere stato bruciato vivo da dei trafficanti di droga, egli decide di andare a Los Angeles dove il fratello vive. Il comandante della legione Adjulant non vuole farlo partire, gli dice di dimenticare la sua famiglia e che una qualsiasi insubordinazione potrebbe allungare la permanenza di Lyon nella legione. Lyon, dal canto suo, risponde che lui la famiglia non la dimenticherà mai ed insulta Hartog, cosa che gli costa la cella d'isolamento come punizione. Mentre viene condotto alla cella riesce a mettere KO diversi legionari e fugge con una Jeep, inseguito dai suoi camerati. Al calar del sole, i Legionari tornano alla base senza essere riusciti a trovarlo ed Adjulant non si dice preoccupato, in quanto ritiene molto improbabile che Lyon possa sopravvivere nel deserto, ma nonostante ciò ordina che il giorno dopo il porto venga controllato, onde evitare che possa fuggire.
