Un giorno Kurt, un ragazzo dal cuore gentile, viene improvvisamente cacciato dal gruppo degli eroi perché ritenuto inutile: la sua attitudine alle armi, la magia e tutte le altre abilità legate al combattimento si rivelano essere del livello più basso. Ora per guadagnarsi da vivere accetta dei lavori saltuari come riparare le mura del castello o ricercare vari minerali, ed è proprio in questi momenti che le sue abilità eccezionali vengono rivelate. Infatti il ragazzo dimostra di essere abile a cucinare, costruire, estrarre minerali, creare utensili magici... in effetti la sua attitudine per le abilità che non sono legate al combattimento raggiunge il livello SSS! Kurt sembra essere totalmente ignaro del suo talento e finisce per salvare persone, la città e l'intero paese tramite le sue azioni inconsapevoli.
