Fantascienza
2047, Nuova Parigi, Francia: un'epoca di rivoluzione tecnologica. La popolazione è divisa tra i “connessi”, la stragrande maggioranza, sempre online, e una minoranza ancora attaccata alla realtà, i “viventi”. Qualcuno non ha mai fatto una scelta precisa, gli “ibridi”, come Nash, un killer al servizio di una delle multinazionali che stanno dietro ad alcuni tra i principali mondi virtuali. La sua missione è localizzare, identificare ed eliminare i terroristi che minacciano la sicurezza di quei mondi uccidendo a caso i giocatori dentro la realtà virtuale. Anche la fidanzata di Nash ne è stata vittima. Le indagini lo condurranno dalle baraccopoli della Nuova Parigi al ricco e opulento Nuovo Distretto, ma anche dentro diversi mondi virtuali.

Rey ha rinunciato anche alle sue aspirazioni per crescere da solo il piccolo fratellastro Oliver, figlio della stessa madre Lola. Quando però esce dal carcere in cui è stata rinchiusa, Lola vorrebbe rimettere insieme la sua famiglia ma Rey è disposto a fare di tutto per evitare che lei e i suoi problemi possano far male al fratello. Decide così di rapire Oliver e di fuggire verso le coste della California inseguendo quel sogno a cui aveva rinunciato anni prima. Per tentare di rintracciarli, Lola chiede aiuto all'ex marito Bo.

Il film si ispira alla vera storia del più famoso informatore segreto della storia degli Stati Uniti: Mark Felt, vice-direttore dell'FBI, che è stato, sotto lo pseudonimo di "Gola profonda", la fonte anonima dello scandalo Watergate negli anni '70. Per oltre trent'anni, la misteriosa identità dell'informatore segreto ha suscitato un'intensa curiosità da parte dell'opinione pubblica e una serie di speculazioni, fino a quando, nel 2005, in un articolo apparso su Vanity Fair, Felt non ha ammesso di essere stato lui. Malgrado il suo nome sia ormai di dominio pubblico da un decennio, in pochi conoscono la vita professionale e privata del brillante e intransigente Felt, che rischiò, e in ultima istanza sacrificò, ogni cosa, compresa la famiglia, la carriera e persino la libertà, per rendere note le informazioni di cui era a conoscenza.

L'anno 1863 vede il tramonto di una stagione tumultuosa per i samurai. Il Giappone è spaccato tra diverse fazioni, schierate a supporto o contro l'istituzione dello shogunato. A destabilizzare le vicende è l'arrivo di un esercito proveniente dal futuro. Per proteggere il corso della storia, vengono schierati due guerrieri che sono la reincarnazione di altrettante spade leggendarie. In order to steal cargo from the Time Retrograde Army, Izuminokami Kanesada joins the rookie Horikawa Kunihiro at the end of the shogunate period. The two swords complete the mission through their valiant efforts, but what awaits them is a new directive: "At a certain castle town in 1863, the new Time Retrograde Army will appear." Izuminokami and Horikawa prepare to intercept the enemy with this limited information. However, the two swords are unable to fend off the overwhelming number enemies. Despite Mutsunokami's best efforts to save the survivors on the ship, he vents out his anger and regret of not able to save everyone. As Mutsunokami is getting more emotional, Izuminokami is trying to convince him to listen to reason. The differences between the two Sword Warriors starts tearing the unit apart. Izuminokami splits up the unit to investigate the Roushi (Masterless Samurai) thinking the Time Retrograde Army will manipulate the Roushi and their anti-foreigner ideology for the Army's schemes. However, as Mutsunokami listens to the Roushi's wishes, he starts to worry about their safety. 3: Master's Orders

Meanwhile, Izuminokami questions his own ability to lead the unit after seeing his comrades, many innocent people, and the town he’s supposed to protect all suffer from the Time Retrograde Army during this mission. 6: The Citadel
