Costantemente sovraperformato dal club femminile, il club di soft tennis maschile deve affrontare lo scioglimento a causa delle loro scarse capacità e della mancanza di risultati positivi. Alla disperata ricerca di giocatori capaci, Toma Shinjou sta cercando di reclutare, ma non riesce a farlo. Entra Maki Katsuragi, uno studente trasferito che mostra grandi riflessi quando cattura un gatto randagio, catturando istantaneamente l'attenzione di Toma. Toma chiede ambiziosamente a Maki di unirsi alla squadra, ma viene rapidamente respinto, poiché Maki non desidera entrare in nessun club.
