Hyoma Kunato è un ragazzo che detesta gli tsukumogami, spiriti in grado di possedere oggetti inanimati, poiché uno di loro gli ha rubato qualcosa per lui molto importante. Il protagonista, appena traferitosi a Kyoto, dovrà però convivere con una ragazza di nome Botan Nagatsuki, la quale invece vuole bene agli tsukumogami e li tratta come membri della sua famiglia.
